Born in Yokohama in 1998, this 19 year old musician was born to a Japanese mother and American father. He first encountered the koto at the age of 9 while attending the Yokohama International School, where he began studying under Curtis Patterson, a koto musician and music teacher. At 14, he won the Grand Prize in the All Japan Koto Competition for elementary and junior high school students. At 16, he became the youngest musician to be awarded the Grand Prize by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in the Kumamoto All Japan Hogaku Competition which is a Japanese music competition divided into the five categories of koto, shakuhachi and fue, shamisen, biwa, and ensemble with koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi. After a dynamite leap into the limelight, he made his major debut in March 2017 with his first album, "Leo 1st." He is currently under the tutelage of Curtis Patterson and Kazue Sawai, an instructor at Sawai Koto Institute, and is also a student at the Tokyo University of the Arts.

Won Bronze Award in the junior high school student category of the 28th All Japan Koto Competition for elementary and junior high school students

Won Silver Award in the junior high school student category of the 29th All Japan Koto Competition for elementary and junior high school students
2012
Won Grand Prize in the 30th All Japan Koto Competition for elementary and junior high school students

Performed in a joint concert called "Futatsu no Gun no Tame ni" in Tokyo as part of "Hen" national tour of Soju Nosaka and Kazue Sawai, his music instructors.
2013
Won Silver Award in the junior category of the 9th Tokyo Hogaku Competition
2013
Won Listener Award in the All Japan High School Hogaku Competition as part of the 23rd Okayama International Music Festival
2014
Participated in the Tokushima Hogaku Renaissance "Chapter 3 Modern-day Hogaku" and performed a joint concert with his music instructors, Kazue Sawai and Dozan Fujiwara

Won Grand Prize from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in the Nagatani Kengyo Memorial 20th Kumamoto All Japan Hogaku Competition
